GUWAHATI: The stakeholders involved in the installation and maintenance of street illumination systems of Guwahati resolved to eliminate defects in the system through location-specific technical rectifications with the joint involvement of the APDCL, APWRD and the GMC.

All the stakeholders held an inter-departmental meeting today at the conference hall of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation. Representatives from the APDCL, GSCL, GMDA, PW(R)D, and the GMC were present at the meeting presided over by the GMC Commissioner.

The meeting discussed various issues related to the street-illumination needing coordinated efforts for timely completion of the ongoing works, smooth functioning of the existing streets and effective implementation of the entire illumination network in the city. The meeting pointed out some technical issues in some of the identified locations where the failure of the street illumination system is frequent.

The meeting also discussed the scope of improvement of the existing street-lighting network and explored the feasibility of the introduction of CCMS (Central Command and Monitoring System).
