Guwahati: Sunday Cyclothon Promotes Fitness and GST Awareness

GUWAHATI: The Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Guwahati Chapter, in collaboration with the Fit India Campaign, organized the Sunday Cyclothon on Sunday. The event, held as a curtain-raiser to the upcoming GST Day celebrations, was flagged off from GST Bhawan, Machhkhowa by D.K. Mittal, Regional Director of the Sports Authority of India.

A total of 74 enthusiastic cyclists took part in the event, including officers and staff from the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) as well as local cycling enthusiasts. The cyclothon was designed to encourage the adoption of cycling as a healthy lifestyle choice and to promote mental well-being. It also served as a platform to raise public awareness about the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and its significance in driving the country’s economic development.

Hemanga Phukon, Joint Commissioner of CGST Guwahati, actively participated in the cyclothon and addressed the gathering, highlighting the positive impact of GST on India’s financial growth and transparency. The event also saw motivational addresses by renowned cycling advocates Kaushik Guha and Arshel Ahmed, the Cycling Mayor of Guwahati.
