Guwahati: Thieves arrested, recovered stolen items in city

A team from Basistha PS has solved a theft case, recovered all stolen items, and arrested the receiver within a span of just 14 hours.

GUWAHATI: A team from Basistha PS has solved a theft case, recovered all stolen items, and arrested the receiver within a span of just 14 hours. The case began with a report of theft, following which the EGPD team launched an investigation. Their efforts led them to the residence of Mofida Begum, alias Koli (45), a resident of Bakrapara, who was identified as the receiver of the stolen items.

A search of Begum’s house yielded not only the stolen items but also a large quantity of suspected ganja, weighing 14.75 kg. The recovered items include a Sony TV, a TATA Sky set-top box, household items such as an electric rice cooker, plastic cups, soup bowls, plates, a hair straightener, and clothing items like Mekhela Sadars and a handmade cotton towel. In addition to the stolen items, the police also seized cash amounting to Rs 2,920 and five hundred 10-rupee coins. Begum has been arrested, and legal action has been initiated against her.
