Guwahati: Thieves arrested, stolen items seized in city

GUWAHATI: A team from Dispur police station cracked an attempted robbery case near Rahman Hospital, VIP Road, Six Mile. Two miscreants — Mukul Laxman (21) and Aditya Kumar Benual (21) of Ambedkar Nagar — who had wrongfully restrained a Scorpio (AS01GA3883) late at night, were arrested within an hour. Dispur police also apprehended a thief — Deepak Das of Jonai — after he was caught with three stolen mobile phones at Khanapara.

A team from Fatashil Ambari police station apprehended three burglars in a recent burglary case. The three have been identified as Bhaskar Das (19) of Narengi, Manjit Das (18) of Silpukhuri, and Nayan Barman (18) of Lalganesh.

The police seized six stolen mobile phones from their possession. Probing a theft case, a team from Basistha police station busted a cross-border mobile trade racket. In a swift operation at Kaldowa Part III, Agomoni (Dhubri), they nabbed two habitual receivers—Sahajmal Ali (30) of Dhubri and Tahinur Haque (29) of Tufanganj (WB)—and seized 10 stolen phones.
