GUWAHATI: To ensure the safety and smooth movement of pilgrims and the general public during the Ambubachi Mahayog 2025, scheduled from June 22 to June 25, the Guwahati Traffic Police and District Administration have imposed several traffic restrictions across the city, especially in and around Kamakhya Temple.
As per the directive, no vehicles will be allowed to proceed from Kamakhya foothill to Maa Kamakhya Temple unless they carry authorised car passes issued by the District Administration. This restriction excludes emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire tenders. Additionally, even ferry cars with passes will not be allowed to operate between 5 PM and 10 PM during the four-day event.
The previously used Pandu Port Road will now be reserved exclusively for emergency movement. Vehicles bringing pilgrims from Jalukbari and Bharalumukh sides will drop them near designated gates of the N.F. Railway HQ and then proceed to parking zones at Adabari bus stand and Boripara field. City buses will be restricted from using the service lanes of the Nilachal Flyover, instead using the main flyover between Jalukbari Rotary and Machkhowa. Passengers will be dropped off at points such as Boripara Police Point, Biswakarma Mandir, and the Taxi Stand.
Public parking will be available at Adabari Bus Stand, Boripara Field, ASTC Machkhowa, and Sonaram High School Field. Meanwhile, the Nilachal Flyover and its surrounding areas have been declared strict no-parking zones, along with stretches of Pandu Port Road, Borbazar Road, and DG Road.
Movement of commercial and slow-moving goods vehicles will be restricted on DG Road, MG Road, AT Road, and Pandu Port Road from 5 AM to 11 PM during the event. Inter-district and long-distance buses, including ASTC buses, are also barred from plying on these roads.
Pilgrim buses from Kamakhya Railway Junction will use specific routes to reach temporary camps at Pandu Port, and devotees will access Kamakhya Temple via designated service lanes. Authorities have advised commuters heading to LGBI Airport to plan ahead and use NH-27 to avoid congestion caused by restrictions. The administration has urged all citizens and pilgrims to cooperate for a smooth and safe conduct of the annual religious congregation.
