Guwahati: In a major clean-up drive, the Guwahati Traffic Police have removed a total of 174 abandoned or unattended vehicles from various streets across the city over the past few days. The move aims to ease congestion, ensure road safety, and maintain smooth traffic flow. According to an official statement, the seized vehicles have been dealt with in the following manner: * Handed over to owners: 61 • Handed over to garages: 39 • Stolen vehicles recovered: 3 • Kept in designated parking places: 71
The traffic police have urged vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicles are not left unattended in public places for long periods, as such practices contribute to traffic disruptions and pose security risks. This drive is part of an ongoing effort to streamline traffic movement and enhance road discipline in Guwahati. Authorities have also warned that similar action will continue in the coming days to keep the city roads clear.
