Guwahati: Truck Found, Stolen Goods Recovered by Basistha Police

A truck (AS13AC5860) that left for Sribhumi from Nalapara in the Basistha area with a load of goods worth around Rs 60 lakh was found abandoned at Sonapur, and the goods were taken away.

GUWAHATI: A truck (AS13AC5860) that left for Sribhumi from Nalapara in the Basistha area with a load of goods worth around Rs 60 lakh was found abandoned at Sonapur, and the goods were taken away. Basistha police arrested three persons in that connection.

According to police sources, the truck left with goods from Shivashakti Roadways, a transport company located at Nalapara. When the truck did not reach the destination in Shribhumi in the scheduled time, the company telephoned the driver and his associate but got no response from them. They soon lodged a complaint with the police.

The police swung into action and arrested the truck’s owner, Abdus Salem, and his associate, Rohim Badsah. Based on their confession, the police arrested the kingpin of the gang of thieves, Iniyash Ali from Sialmari Sar of Hajo. Based on their confessional statement, the police recovered the stolen goods, including eight tonnes of Dyna roof in sheets, two sacks of loose cotton, four cartons of Shikhaar, one carton of Rajanigandha, 10,000 paper cups, 35 cartons of incense sticks, etc.
