GUWAHATI: In a tragic turn of events, two brothers allegedly killed their neighbor over a petty issue, turning Bihu festivities into a tragedy for this family in Guwahati's Garchuk area. The accused brothers, identified as Utpal Das and Naviyoti Das, had picked up an argument with their neighbor Krishna Kalita.
Following the argument, Kalita was brutally attacked with a sharp weapon by the brothers, eventually killing him. However, the reason behind the argument is yet to be known. According to Garchuk Police, Kalita's body has been sent for postmortem, and both the accused brothers have been arrested.
Meanwhile, a 42-year-old daily wage laborer, Raju Harijan, lost his life as a result of a fight over a packet of biscuits worth only ten rupees in Jagiroad, Assam. The fight was on the evening of April 7th when Harijan had been employed by Kundal Deori from Kanabori village to make a boundary fence.
Following a day of work, Deori allegedly gave Harijan ten rupees for tea and biscuits. Harijan, however, demanded double the amount, which resulted in a heated argument between the two men. The argument turned physical, with allegations that Deori physically assaulted Harijan several times, leaving him badly injured and unconscious.
