Guwahati: Union Minister of Communications and Minister of Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Tuesday inaugurated a 5G Lab at Gauhati University. The lab will serve as a digital innovation hub, enabling students, researchers, and faculty members to explore new possibilities in high-speed communication, artificial intelligence, and advanced networking. The initiative aligns with the government's vision of a digitally empowered India.
The Minister also felicitated 59 meritorious students and 6 Ph.D. scholars for their outstanding academic achievements. While handing over the felicitation certificates, Scindia praised the students for their hard work and dedication. He lauded the university's commitment towards holistic development and rich legacy in building a strong educational environment for the entire Northern eastern region and beyond.
Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, Prof Nani Gopal Mahanta, while welcoming Scindia highlighted the University's contributions to higher education, research, and technological advancements, emphasizing its vision towards enhancing innovation and excellence in the region.
Scindia expressed confidence that the 5G Lab would open up new frontiers in education and research, enhancing the digital experience of students and preparing them for the technology-driven workforce of the future. "As India moves towards a digitally inclusive future, initiatives like these play a crucial role in equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in a rapidly evolving digital landscape," he added.
