GUWAHATI: A construction worker was critically injured after receiving a severe electric shock at the Chandmari Flyover construction site early this morning, casting a harsh spotlight on ongoing safety concerns. The injured worker, identified as Saiful Haque, came into accidental contact with a live wire during routine work, an incident that has raised serious questions about the safety measures enforced at the site.

Responding swiftly, personnel from the Chandmari Police Station rushed Haque to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he remains in critical condition under close medical supervision.

Following the incident, construction activity at the flyover has been temporarily halted as authorities initiate a thorough investigation.

Local residents and daily commuters, already inconvenienced by the ongoing construction, are voicing growing frustration and fear. Many argue that the site poses risks not only to workers but also to pedestrians who traverse the area. One concerned resident remarked, “It’s not just the workers – even pedestrians are at risk here,” highlighting the broader danger posed by lack of safety enforcement.
