GUWAHATI: Guwahati is limping back to normalcy. The curfew was lifted from 7 am to 4 pm on Saturday. Besides the opening of markets, shops and petrol pumps; the running of city buses in the city has started to show the very sign of the crowded city. People were seen to go to the markets and essential goods when the curfew was lifted.

Meanwhile, many of them seemed to be disappointed over the sudden price hike of essential commodities. Now, the consumers are buying their essential commodities by paying extra amounts. The shopkeepers say that they themselves are buying the products at high rates due to short supply. They claim that as stocks have already exhausted, it has become problematic to collect goods.

Consumers say from vegetables to meat the prices are too high. For every kg of meat, they have to pay Rs 20-30 extra.
