GUWAHATI: Taxii, a Hindi short film written and directed by Mumbai-based Assamese filmmaker Arunjit Borah, was released on YouTube on Friday. Pocket films, the leading digital distribution company in India which released the movie, has received massive responses on the very first day.

Taxii has already been screened across various national and international film festivals and won a number of awards. The film has already earned positive reviews. The film’s release coincides with the International Women Day. Based on the theme of women’s safety, the film is likely to raise a number of questions including women empowerment in the real sense of the term.

Produced under the banner of LN films, the thriller was shot across various locations in the Mumbai city. The film has Riya Khaund and Sanjeev Giriwer in the lead. Los Angeles-based musician Brandy Thomas has composed the music of the film. Music recording engineer of the film is Adam Klein from Florida and the entire music has been recorded in Florida. The re-recording mixer is Assam’s youth Boloy Kumar Doloi.

Made on a shoestring budget, the film ran out of funds midway forcing the director Arunjit Borah to resort to crowd funding. Guwahati-based advocate and social activist Aparajita Bhuyan has also extended support towards successful completion of Taxii.
