Improve Saving-Loan Ratio, Banks Told District Development Commissioner

GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (Metro) District Development Commissioner asked all the banks in the district to improve their respective savings to loan ratios in accordance with the State and Central ratio standards.

A meeting was held between the District Coordination Committee and the District-level Review Committee at the office of the District Commissioner, presided over by District Development Commissioner Ajit Kumar, on Friday. The meeting was held in the city in order to protect the agreement between District Administration and the banks in the district.

Discussion was also held on the various Central and State Government schemes, such as Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM), Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and the roles of the banks in the implementation of such schemes.

The State Government’s ‘Aapun Ghar’ and ‘Abhinandan’ schemes were directed to be implemented vastly and the banks were also asked to play the key role in the implementation of such schemes.

The District Development Commissioner said that banks can play a key role in the development of food, agriculture and other similar departments. He asked the banks to be cautious before passing any loan.

The meeting was attended by Lead District Manager of Kamrup (M) Gobin Rajkhowa , DDM of NABARD Biswajit Dey, Regional Manager of UCO Bank Sandeep Dhar, along with representatives of the Reserve Bank of India, NABARD, Canara Bank, Allahbad Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Punjab National Bank etc.
