Indus Towers And Shishu Sarothi Honor Young Scholars With Disabilities In Assam

Shishu Sarothi, in partnership with Indus Towers Limited, awarded scholarships to 70 deserving students with disabilities from Northeast India at their annual Scholarship Award Ceremony 2024-25.

GUWAHATI: In a significant ceremony celebrating inclusive education and skill development, Shishu Sarothi, in partnership with Indus Towers Limited, awarded scholarships to 70 deserving students with disabilities from Northeast India, including 18 from Assam, at their annual Scholarship Award Ceremony 2024-25 held today in Guwahati.

The event was graced by Shri Jayanta Malla Baruah, Hon'ble Minister of Skills, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Government of Assam, as the Chief Guest.

Distinguished guests included Shri Subhash Chandra Das (IAS Retd), Vice Chancellor of Assam Skills University, Smt Mira Das Boro, Joint Director of Social Justice and Empowerment, and Shri Ranjit Barthakur, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training (DECT), along with senior officials from Indus Towers Limited.

The ceremony featured inspiring "Stories of Change" from scholarship recipients Rajib Ali, currently pursuing MBBS at Gauhati Medical College, and Bhubon Dutta, an MBA graduate from Tezpur University, who is now employed as Floor Manager at Reliance Jewels. Their success stories exemplify the program's impact in creating pathways to professional achievement and economic independence.

Shri Rajender Gurung, Circle CEO (North-East & Assam) of Indus Towers Ltd., emphasized the company's commitment to the region, stating, "The Indus Towers Scholarship Program, under our CSR initiative 'Saksham,' has supported over 800 students with disabilities since its inception in 2016. We believe in creating sustainable impact through education and skill development."

Ms. Ketaki Bardalai, Executive Director of Shishu Sarothi, highlighted the program's alignment with regional development goals: "This scholarship program represents a crucial investment in the future of young people with disabilities, in Northeast India. By focusing on education and skill development, we're not just providing financial support – we're building pathways to economic independence."

The Indus Towers Scholarship Program focuses on supporting academic, professional, vocational, and skill-based education at recognized institutions across India. The initiative has been instrumental in breaking barriers to higher education and employment for persons with disabilities in the Northeast region.
