International Air Cargo Complex Opened At LGBI Airport

Guwahati: The newly built International Air Cargo Complex of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport, Guwahati, which is first to promote international air cargo trade for the entire North East Region as a gateway port was today opened for services by Addl. Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Govt. of Assam, Sh. Ravi Capoor, IAS; who is the strength behind in activating, guiding and promoting measures for air cargo in NER.

The Int’l Cargo Complex of Guwahati LGBI Airport has an annual capacity of catering over 8,000 MT (approx.) of cargo goods. The occasion was graced by Regional Executive Director, NER Sh. D.K Kamra, the Airport Director Sh. Ramesh Kumar, Guwahati Airport; senior AAI & Airline officials. Also, the HoD of AAICLAS (AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Company Limited, an AAI subsidiary); trade promoters, exporters, importers , public servants, customs, Plant Quarantine officials and et all participated the great function with blessings to woo the international trade. Air cargo from Guwahati got major boost last year in November when Fresh vegetable sourced from various districts of Assam was directly exported to the markets of Dubai, UAE and London with the first consignment sent from Guwahati Airport’s Air Cargo services having all the Customs- EDI clearance with Plant Quarantine services right here at the Airport.
