GUWAHATI: The Indigenous Tribal Sahitya Sabha, Assam (ITSA) condemned the recent Manipur incident where two Kuki women were paraded naked and gangraped. ITSA condemns the very incident as heinous, barbaric, and a violation of human rights. ITSA demands the Government of India punish the perpetrators under the strictest Indian Penal Code. ITSA sent a memorandum through email to the President of India to take strict action.
The ITSA Secretary General Kamalakanta Musahary said, "At the time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is called Bishwa Guru (world leader), eight states of the Northeast, including Assam, have been boasting of Ashtalakshmi for the last eight years, it is unfortunate that a powerful state apparatus like the government cannot control the community fight between the Meiteis and Kuki, which is extremely condemnable and shameful.
Since the President of India is an indigenous tribal woman, the indigenous people demand that the president intervene in the situation in Manipur and take law and order under her control.
