GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (M) district administration on Friday initiated relief operations following the massive waterlogging in different parts of Guwahati.
The district administration has released a helpline number for the assistance of people in distress. A statement from the Kamrup Metro District Administration stated, "For the kind information of citizens and stakeholders, citizens of Guwahati may please contact the District Administration helpline number for any assistance in the wake of waterlogging or other issues. Control Room: 9365429314."
Massive water logging in Ulubari, Rajgarh, RG Baruah Road, Zoo Road, Hatigaon, Borbari, Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Gandhibasti, Rukminigaon, and several other locations created problems for the local residents. Several roads became completely inaccessible by vehicles, while many others saw knee-deep water levels.
Apart from the officials of the district administration, the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force were pressed into service for the rescue and relief measures.
