Kamrup (M) district pays tribute to kalaguru on Rabha Divas

Guwahati: The Kamrup (M) district administration on Friday observed Vishnu Rabha Divas with solemnity and enthusiasm at the office premises of the Deputy Commissioner. Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan led the tribute by offering floral respects to the portrait of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha and reflected on the state government’s ongoing efforts to preserve and honour the legacy of the legendary cultural icon.

As part of the celebration, special sessions were held during morning assemblies in various schools across the city, where officials and speakers spoke about Rabha’s life, patriotism, and contributions to Assam’s cultural heritage.

Assistant Commissioner of Dispur Subdivision Bandita Kashyap addressed students at South Beltola M.E. School, while her counterparts Hirkajyoti Saikia (Dimoria), Hemprabha Kalita (New Guwahati), Navjyoti Nath (Jalukbari), and Benzir Elias (Central Guwahati) delivered talks at Sonapur Higher Secondary School, Borbari High School, Jalukbari Higher Secondary School, and Kamrup Academy respectively. They urged students to draw inspiration from Kalaguru’s ideals and strive to serve the nation with dedication.

In keeping with the spirit of the occasion, schools also organized various competitions. The day’s programme included a live telecast of the central Vishnu Rabha Divas celebration held in Nalbari district.
