Koch Rajbongshis Demand Kamatapuri Language In 8th Schedule

GUWAHATI: Expressing frustration, the Kamatapur Progressive Party (KPP), conveyed their disapproval with the State Government for not including Kamatapuri language in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution.

At a press conference on Monday, KPP General Secretary Uttam Kumar Rai stated, “Since 1967, ST status has been demanded the Koch Rajbongshi community, but the demand even during the present times, remain closed in the files collecting dust.”

The Party conveyed in clear statements that if the BJP government is not able to implement the Sixth Schedule for the Koch Rajbongshi, then they should be prepared to face the wrath of the community in the upcoming elections. The Party further demanded Bharat Ratna for ex-Chief Minister Sarad Chandra Singha and the Chilarai Award for the ex-president of Koch Rajbongshi Sanmilani Dr. Harendra Narayan Dutta from the state government.
