GUWAHATI: Expressing its reaction on the mob attack upon Dr Deben Dutta, the Oxom Nirman Dol (OND) appeals to the State government to take urgent actions, which includes five demands.
Firstly, the organization demanded the suspension of the DC and SP of Jorhat district and making a law to stop mob attack as soon as possible. The other three demands included providing compensation of Rupees 50 lakh to late Dr. Deben Dutta’s family, provision of personal security guard to tea garden doctors and that central minister Rameshwar Telli must accept his failure and he should resign from his position. Criticizing the State government and Assam Legislative Assembly, OND, President Upen Raj Nath said, “In case of giving justice to the victim we don’t witness the existence of the Legislative Assembly and the 126 MLAs to materialize any action. As we are all aware of the saying that ‘Justice delayed is Justice denied’, even after 20 years of the murder of Parag Das, the failure to catch the murderer is what we can be termed justice denied. Now the mob attack upon senior doctor Deben Dutta is the repetition of the murder of former minister Jibakanta Gogoi’s son. It’s sorrowful that Assam government and Assam Legislative assembly hasn’t showed any interest to come with a law to stop crimes like mob attacks. Now we appeal to the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to visit the victim’s family as moral support.”
