Guwahati: Chaos erupted at the under-construction site of the Guwahati-North Guwahati Bridge early this morning after a leopard was spotted taking shelter on one of the bridge’s poles. The unexpected sight caused widespread panic among workers at the site.
During the commotion, a worker identified as Uday Ghosh, a native of West Bengal, was attacked by the leopard. He sustained injuries and was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care, sources confirmed.
The sudden appearance of the leopard sent several workers fleeing the site, bringing construction activities to a standstill. Following the incident, teams from the Forest Department and local police were dispatched to the location. Authorities have since been working to secure the area and ensure the safety of workers and residents. Efforts are underway to tranquillize the leopard and relocate it safely.
Some workers speculated that the animals may have crossed the Brahmaputra River to reach the site. Authorities are continuing their operations to locate and capture the animal while urging the public to remain vigilant.
