Guwahati: There was only one Durga Puja organized at Japorigog, which is being celebrated every year for more than 15 years now. Another Puja is going to be organized in the APDCL premises for the first time. The committee members talked about their motto in organizing this puja. Working president Suman Bordoloi, a doctor at Arya Hospital worked day and night to make it a success. Secretary Kaustav Talukdar briefed about their motto: there was no puja in and around the place, people of the neighbourhood would be able to mingle during the puja as a result of which the neighbours who live like strangers would know about each other and there will be social development.

This puja committee comprises of people from all walks of life, belonging to various communities like the Hindus, Muslims, Assamese, Bengalis, Hindi-speaking, etc., who have come together thereby opening the door to communal harmony. They had earmarked a budget of 5 lakh but have been able to collect only 4.7 lakh. So their humble effort is going to pave way for the future generations to carry on the legacy of organizing a puja for this locality.
