GUWAHATI: A man named Rouchan Ali alias Chana (60) of Sundar Path in Ambari here was hacked to death by one Habibur Rahman (35) of Bordanguri on Wednesday.
A team of the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from the Satgaon Police Station arrested the murderer at Dalbari. The murder weapon was also recovered from Rahman.
The incident took place at around 1.45 pm, when the accused attacked and hacked the deceased to death with a dao.
According to police sources, Rahman fled the scene of the crime, but he was apprehended within half an hour of the incident.
The sources said that an illicit relationship was the motive for the murder of Ali, who was an ex-Army jawan.
