‘Martyr Kushal Konwar’s patriotism inspired us to serve our country’

GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (M) Administration organized a tribute-paying ceremony in front of the statue of martyr Kushal Konwar at Nehru Park in Guwahati on Thursday morning. The event was attended by Assam Minister for Environment and Forests, Act East Policy Affairs Chandra Mohan Patwari, District Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, Guwahati Municipal Corporation Mayor Mrigen Sarania, the families of martyr Kushal Konwar, and several freedom fighters and dignitaries. Offerings and prayers from all religions were paid to the martyr. The event also felicitated Jamuna Konwar, daughter-in-law of martyr Kushal Konwar, and 115-year-old Swami Lekhraj, a freedom fighter from Uttar Pradesh.

Chandra Mohan Patwari, in his speech, recalled the contribution of freedom fighters with gratitude, and he said in 1942, Quit India Movement martyr Kushal Konwar’s heroism and sacrifice inspired everyone in Assam to serve the country selflessly. The event was attended by Asom Raijik Mukti Jujaru Sanmilan, General Secretary Dwijendra Mohan Sharma, several freedom fighters from different parts of the state, members of freedom fighters’ families, and other distinguished people.
