Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp for Students Concludes at IIT Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A five-day residential Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp that began on December 30, 2024, concluded on January 3, 2025.

The camp was organized by the Outreach Education Programme, IIT Guwahati, in association with the Assam Academy of Mathematics at IIT Guwahati. The camp is a part of five special mathematical training camps for the northeastern region funded by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai, with support from the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Government of India. The camp was intended to provide special training to the students of the northeastern region preparing for the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad. The selection of the participants was done on the basis of their performance in the Regional Mathematical Olympiad and merit in the Assam Mathematics Olympiad. The camp was coordinated by Prof. Anupam Saikia, Dean, Outreach Education Programme, IIT Guwahati. The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. Sukumar Nandi, Dean (Administration), IIT Guwahati, in the presence of Prof. Swaroop Nandan Bora, HOD in charge of Mathematics, IIT Guwahati. The camp ended with the valedictory session presided over by Dr. Devendra Jalihal, Director, IIT Guwahati. The participants expressed their views regarding the training camp. Certificates of participation were distributed to the participants, a press release said.
