GUWAHATI, July 29: The All Moran Students’ Union (AMSU) staged a protest in New Delhi on Sunday reiterating their demand to grant Schedule Tribe status. After the protest, the AMSU also sent a memorandum to the Prime Minister. “Urgent steps should be taken for inclusion of the Moran tribes inhabiting both in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in the list of Schedule Tribes of India,” the AMSU said in its memorandum.
Through the memorandum, the AMSU also urged the Prime Minister to set-up Moran Directorate in Assam stating that the Morans will also be able to gain the way of development in every sphere like the other communities of the state.
