GUWAHATI: “Transfer is not possible till I am the Health Minister” said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma while distributing appointment letters to the staff nurses and technicians who will be recruited in the newly constructed Assam Hills Medical College & Research Institute.

The appointment letters were distributed to a total of 205 staff nurses and 87 Grade III technicians at PWD Convention and Training Center on Friday. Many stated that the event of distributing the appointment letters is actually a historic event for Diphu.

The construction for this Medical College & Hospital was started way back in 2011. Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The OPD services will be started from November 25 and November 20 is the last date of joining for those who are getting their appointment letters today. We’ll always be there for any kind of problem. As of now we’re not taking any initiative for the local employees. But we are taking initiative with the help of council for providing the accommodation facility for those who will join from outside.”

Sarma added, “Transfer is not possible anyway after joining, till I am in the charge of this department. So if anyone is thinking about to get transfer with the help of middleman after a few days of joining, they can give a second thought before joining. Everyone must go with the mindset to serve the people of Diphu. We could appoint 58 faculties and 44 junior and senior residents, they will join by the next week. By the next seven days grade III and grade IV employees will also be recruited. We’re hoping for the admission of students in this year, if it not becomes possible we will make sure to do same in the next year.”

Sarma further said that 50-60% appointed candidates are from Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao and no one can claim to get the job on anyone’s recommendation. He claimed that all of the candidates are sitting in the event to collect their appointment letters because of their merit and because of the fact that they belong to Karbi Aanglong. So if anyone had paid anything to anyone they should go and ask to return what they spent in the name of getting this job.

Chief Executive Member, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang stated that no one has to worry about their security. He said, “The Karbi people will give all the necessary security and Karbi Autonomous Council will make it sure that everyone get their comfort and security.”
