'Mitrajoot' bags all four seats in Kamrup (Metro) district

* BJP regains Jalukbari, Dispur & Gauhati East; AGP again wins Gauhati West

GUWAHATI: The following candidates have won the four Constituencies in Kamrup (Metro) district.

While the BJP won the Jalukbari, Dispur and also Gauhati East constituencies; its ally in the 'Mitrajoot' — the AGP bagged the Gauhati West seat.

The details are as follows: From Jalukbari, Himanta Biswa Sarma of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) defeated his nearest contender Ramen Chandra Borthakur of the Indian National Congress by margin of 1,01,911 votes. While Sarma polled 1,30,762 votes, Borthakur got 28, 851 votes.

In Dispur, Atul Bora (BJP) trounced Manjit Mahanta (Mahjoot) by a margin of 1,21,091 votes. Bora polled 1,95,218 votes as against 74,127 of Mahanta.

In Gauhati East, Siddartha Bhattacharyya (BJP) defeated Ashima Bordoloi (Congress) by a margin of 83, 414 votes. Bhattacharyya polled 1,12,486 votes as against 29,072 of Bordoloi.

From Gauhati West, Ramendra Narayan Kalita (Asom Gana Parishad) won the seat by a margin of 77,795 votes. Kalita polled 1,36,483 votes while his nearest contender — Mira Borthakur Goswami (Congress) got 58,688 votes.
