Modern English School, Kahilipara Released 10 Borgeets on YouTube

GUWAHATI: Modern English School, Kahilipara had always taken the initiative to imbibe in the minds of the learners a love for their language, culture and tradition. With the objective to spread and uplift the Assamese culture and making the unprecedented writings of Srimanta Sankardeva and Madhabdeva popular among the students, the school has staged the immortal creation of Srimanta Shankardeva, “Ram Bijoy” an “Ankiya Bhoana.

As Borgeets are an inseparable part of our cultural heritage, the school has taken step towards making these popular. With an attempt to keep the Borgeets alive in the hearts of the people of Assam, ten Borgeets were released on the YouTube on the very day. These Borgeets were performed by the music teacher of Modern English School, Bhupen Nath and one of them by the Principal of the School, Jonali Das. It may be mentioned that the Borgeets were lying in the different corners of the Vaishnavite Monasteries of Assam. So, the school took the initiative to amass all the lyrical treasures and digitally preserve them for posterity.

The evening started with a Borgeet performance by the students of Modern English School. It was followed by the lighting of the lamp by Sriman Rajguru, Rajpujari of Sri Sri Dakhinpat Xattra along with R.C. Jain and Director and Principal of the school. The Borgeets were released by the Chairman of Secondary Education Board of Assam(SEBA) RC Jain, IAS (Retd). Then the students of Modern English School performed a Xattriya Dance and enthralled the audience. The play was enacted by the following students of Modern English School —Tonmoyee Bora, Hrithik Nath, Bhargab Das, Rache Saikia, Debanshi Purkyastha, Suraksha Sinha, Maharishi Manab Hira, Anand Kumar Saikia, Tonmoy Goswami, Sagar Pathak, Anamika Ghosh, Bhupen Barman,Manash Nath, Bishal Das, Anand Kumar Saikia, Himan Deka, Suraj Thapa, Anamika Ghosh, Amarjyoti Roy, Manash Nath. The drama was enacted under the guidance of Anjan Bhuyan and was directed by Anitya Bhuyan. The performance was enjoyed by a good number of audiences.

With the objective of making today’s generation aware of the rich culture of Assam and also to recognize their roots, the Director , Pankaj Das and Principal Jonali Das have given emphasis in organizing such cultural programmes in the future too, stated a press release.
