Move to Liquidate HPC Mills in Assam Opposed at Chandmari

GUWAHATI: Against the ‘anti-labour policy of the BJP government’ and the auction of the two HPC mills in Assam, the Save Industry Save Workers’ Joint Struggle Committee held a state convention at Chandmari here on Sunday. Inaugurating the convention, Hiren Gohain said that the government is entrusted with the responsibility of security perspective, but it does not have the power to sell the property of the State. Attending the convention the representatives from the AITUC, Numaligarh Refinary Workers’ Union, United Workmen Union, Assam Petroleum Majdur Union, Airport employees’ Union and many other organizations took a pledge to fight against the government’s ‘attack on workers and labourers’. Besides taking a series of programmes and proposals, the convention also took a decision to take out processions against the auction of the two paper mills in the State.
