Panchayat conference on July 8

GUWAHATI: The new building of the Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) will be inaugurated on July 30 by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla, who will be the chief guest of the event. Biswajit Daimary, the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, has informed the media about this.
Biswajit Daimary also said that the ALA will be conducting a Panchayat conference on July 8 in Guwahati. The Speaker said, “The Assam Legislative Assembly has taken steps to discuss parliamentary democracy at the grassroots level to properly implement the parliamentary provisions of the Constitution. The powers and authority given to Panchayat Representatives by the Constitution should be exercised properly. There will be a panchayat meeting. It will be held on July 8 at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra. The first conference was held in Dibrugarh, and this will be the second after that. The Panchayat representatives and MLAs from six districts, namely Darrang, Nalbari, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, and Nagaon, will be participating. A total of 1213 delegates will participate. The Governor Gulab Chand Kataria will be inaugurating the Panchayat conference.”
Further, he said, the aim is to strengthen the Panchayati Raj system. The conference will also emphasize how to advance rural areas socially and economically. The delegates will be asked what problems they are facing. Also, there will be discussion about whether there is anything to be done in the Assembly through the legislative process.
