GUWAHATI: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) announced further cancellations, diversions and service changes for several trains due to disruption caused by heavy rainfall and flooding at Simaluguri and adjoining areas in Sivasagar district under the Tinsukia Division. Several long-distance trains, including Rajdhani, Vivek, Kamrup, Avadh Assam and Intercity services, were diverted on various routes between August 6 and August 9 to ensure passenger safety and meet operational requirements. A number of passenger and DEMU services were also cancelled during the period. NFR said the Guwahati–Dibrugarh Nagaland Express resumed regular operations with effect from August 6. The railway stated that engineering teams, led by senior divisional officials, have been working round the clock to restore train services in the flood-affected section and ensure the safe movement of trains at the earliest, a press release said.
