NRC Sewa Kendra of Dispur Staff Caught Accepting Bribe At Ganeshguri

GUWAHATI: NRC Sewa Kendra of Dispur Field Level Officer (FLO) Syed Shahjahan, 48, was caught red-handed by vigilance and anticorruption team while accepting bribe at 11 am on Thursday at Ganeshguri, Guwahati. The team caught the accused while he was accepting a bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from complainant Kajari Ghosh Dutta of Ananda Nagar PS Dispur, Guwahati.

The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for entering the name of the complainant in the draft NRC. The accused had highlighted some technical defects in her application and demanded the bribe to correct the technical defects and enter her name thereafter into the final draft of NRC. The complainant was to pay the bribe amount on Thursday.

So, the complainant had approached the ACB PS in the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti Corruption, Assam and a Trap was laid down as per standard procedure in matter of ACB PS Case No. 09/2019 u/s 7(a) of PC Act 1988 (as amended in 2018).

Meanwhile, Asstt Local Registrar of Citizen Registration (LRCR) of same NRC Sewa Kendra, Rahul Parasar, 27, was also arrested for accepting bribe. The money has been seized from the possession of the accused along with connected documents. The accused public servants have been arrested and will be forwarded to the Special Court on Friday morning. Due procedures are being observed.
