Open gym inaugurated at Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara

GUWAHATI: The open gymnasium of Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara (KVK) was inaugurated on Friday by Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, who is also the chairman of the Vidyalaya Management Committee of KV Khanapara, in presence of Varun Mitra, Deputy Commissioner, KVS Guwahati Region; Deepak Kumar Dabral and Venkateswar Prasad Bellibosai, Assistant Commissioners, KVS Guwahati Region; members of the Vidyalaya Management Committee; teachers, students and other stakeholders.

According to a press release, the gym is set up as a part of Fit India Movement that was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019 to make fitness a way of life so that people remain healthy and fit and the country can reap the dividends of a large young population.

This gym was a long-felt need of the Vidyalaya. Equipment like double standing twister, double sit-up board, leg press, chest press, cross trainer, rower, triceps puller, back extension etc., have been set up in the gym.

Speaking on the occasion, the guests hoped that the tools in the gym will help the students to stay fit, healthy and to ward off the negative stress and boost confidence in them. They hoped that the gym would help the students to channelize their boundless energy into positive act for building self-esteem and personality.

Inaugurating the gym for students, teachers, parents and community members, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated the school for being the best-performing school in the whole North-East region - in academics and other activities. He appreciated the efforts of school authorities, dedication of teachers and support of parents. He hoped to see the school grow in the days to come and blessed the students for a bright future.
