Prime accused in urea smuggling racket nabbed in Guwahati

In a major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on the illegal fertilizer trade, a team from Basistha Police Station arrested the kingpin behind the smuggling of urea into Meghalaya.

Guwahati: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on the illegal fertilizer trade, a team from Basistha Police Station arrested the kingpin behind the smuggling of urea into Meghalaya.

The accused, identified as Eusof Ali (42) from Mukalmua was apprehended at Doulasal. According to officials, Ali played a central role in the illegal transportation and distribution of urea bags across state borders.

Meanwhile on July 8, a team from  Basistha PS intercepted truck (AS28C9601) at Jorabat, seizing 110 bags of Bharat Urea under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana being transported without valid documents.

Driver Abdur Rahman (35) was arrested. Truck and consignment was seized.
