GUWAHATI: A Railway officer was arrested in Guwahati for trying to sell goods confiscated by the railway authorities during various raids. The arrested officer is Imdadur Rahman who is the Senior Section Engineer of the New Guwahati Railway department.
As per reports, on November 16, Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized a truck bearing registration number AS-01-BC-4283 loaded with railway materials. Two persons – Sahidul Islam and Sahabul Islam were taken into the custody. Based on their confessional statements, another person named Shah Alom (Haque), a resident of Hatigaon in Guwahati, was questioned. He stated that Imdadur Rahman arranged the seized truck, handed over the seized challan to the truck driver through Shah Alom Haque and also handed over cash Rs 4,000 as advance for the truck fare. On the basis of his statement, Imdadur Rahman was arrested on Monday from his office.
He has been booked under case number 08/2022U/S-3(a)RP(UP) Act.
