GUWAHATI: The counting of votes was completed for the Post Graduate Students Union (PGSU) of the Gauhati University (GU), and the results were declared on Friday.
Jintu Das was named president, and Arif Hussian Mir won the vice president post. Himanjit Deka was elected General Secretary, and Niharika Devi was appointed Assistant General Secretary. Lakhyajit Saikia won the Cultural Secretary, Borosha Borgohain is the Debate Secretary, Nabakanta Barua won the Literary Secretary, and Bhargav Keot is the Gymnasium Secretary. The boys’ common room secretary is Suraj Phukan, while Winnie Deka is the girls’ common room secretary. Devangana Chakrabarty is the Social Services Secretary. Rishab Narzary is the sports secretary, with Himakshi Rabha for major games and Pallab Hazarika for minor games.
The President and several other posts in the Post Graduate Students Union have been won by the All Assam Students Union, while the National Student Union of India has been able to take the General Secretary post. One contestant from the Asom Chatra Parishad also won in the union body elections.
