Rural Women Upliftment Association Organized Session on Eco-friendly Diwali

GUWAHATI: An open session was organized by Rural Women Upliftment Association of Assam to celebrate “Harit Diwali-Swasth Diwali” sponsored by MoEF & CC, GOI & supported by ASTEC, GoA on Friday. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Pranab Sandilya, Principal, Guwahati College. In his speech, Dr. Sandilya galvanized the students to celebrate Diwali in an environment-friendly manner by gifting plant sapling to their relatives and friends along with sweets etc and light up their houses and their schools with candles and diyas. Surjya Kr Bordoloi, Chairman, RWUAA elaborated the aims & objectives of organising the open session on the theme “HARIT DIWALI-SWASTH DIWALI”. He also advocated on how bursting of crackers impacts health of children and aged people.
