Satyawati Mahanta of Jajori, Nagaon passes away

GUWAHATI: Satyawati Mahanta (86) of Jajori, Nagaon passed away at a private hospital here on Wednesday after a period of illness. She was born on September 21, 1935 and was married to late Sadananda Mahanta. A leading citizen in Sri Sri Aamtala Gajala Sattra, she was an expert organizer and practitioner of naam-prasanga and other Bhakti traditions. She was managing the Mikirbheta mouza for about 35 years until last year. Her husband passed away when their children were young and thus she raised them amidst various hardships. She is survived by her daughter Swapnali and sons Jyotirmoy, Jayanta, Utpal, Apurba and Simanta, and their families.
