Guwahati: The SBI OBC Employees' Welfare Association, Guwahati Circle, successfully organized its 1st General Body Meeting on July 6 at the premises of State Bank of India, LHO, Guwahati. The meeting marked an important milestone in formally bringing together employees from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category under one platform to work collectively for their welfare, representation, and growth within the organization.
Members from various branches and offices across the North Eastern States participated actively (physically and virtually), showing great enthusiasm and unity. The Association's objectives, constitution, resolutions, and upcoming initiatives were discussed and adopted with full support.
A major outcome of the meeting was the unanimous selection of the first Executive Committee for a three-year term (2025-2028), which will be responsible for driving the Association's mission and addressing the issues and concerns of OBC employees across the Circle. The house unanimously elected the Executive Committee with 22 office bearers as declared by the Election Committee, wherein Hari Krishna Chetia was elected as the President and Jagadish Chandra Paul as the General Secretary of the Association.
The Chief Guest of the meeting was Satish Kumar Sharma, DGM & CDO, SBI, LHO Guwahati. Among the other dignitaries, the esteemed guests included the top office bearers of SBI OBC Employees' Welfare Associations of New Delhi, Chandigarh, Bhopal, and Ahmedabad Circles; top office bearers of SBIOA (NEC), SBISA (NEC), SEWA (NEC); AGM (HR); and AGM & Liaison Officer for OBC Employees in SBI, Guwahati Circle, stated a press release.
