Scouts & Guides event of Assam & Meghalaya held at Sonapur

GUWAHATI: The 1st Assam-Meghalaya State Scouts & Guides Fellowship joint gathering was held on Saturday at the State Training Centre of Bharat Scouts & Guides at Sonapur near here.

The event was attended by adult Scouts & Guides and other like-minded people from both the States.

The programme started with flag hosting and was followed by a series of deliberations, exchange of ideas and performance by team members of both the States.

Dr Dilip Chetry, VP & Head ( Primates) of Aaranyak, an NGO based at Guwahati working in the field of Wildlife, Biodiversity Conservation & Research, shared his field experiences and showed his interest in joint activities in Biodiversity conservation and other related activities.

Around 20 members including Dr C Varghese, president, MSSGF, Amelia Swer, secretary general, MSSGF, Diana Kharshing, international secretary, Indian SGF and Lamonte Pariot, Council Member, Indian SGF joined the gathering in addition to the members of Assam State SGF. The meeting was presided over by Arunima Devi, State Secretary, BSG, Assam State. Azaharuddin, ALT Scout, who has contributed a lot in the Moirabari area of the Morigaon district for deaddiction of drug addicts as well as for senior citizens, was felicitated by the Meghalaya State Scouts & Guides Fellowship.
