Guwahati: In a shocking turn of events, a woman in Jaymati Nagar, Pandu, has confessed to murdering her husband and burying his body within the premises of their home. The accused, identified as Rahiman Khatun, had allegedly killed her husband on June 26, Sabial Rehman, and buried the body four feet underground inside their house compound. After the incident, she misled neighbours and relatives by claiming that her husband had gone to Kerala in search of work. She later fled from the area. The matter came to light after Rehman’s family filed a missing person’s report at Jalukbari Police Outpost on Saturday. However, Rahiman Khatun herself appeared at the outpost on Sunday morning and confessed to the crime. Acting on her confession, police, accompanied by a magistrate, visited the location she mentioned. The buried body of Sabial Rehman was recovered from the spot. While Khatun has admitted to committing the murder, police officials suspect that more individuals may be involved, citing discrepancies in the burial site’s appearance and condition. Further investigation is underway.
