GUWAHATI: Special Judge, Assam G. Baruah has acquitted Rajen Saikia and Bimal Bhowmik from charges of demanding money from one Md. Hafijur Islam to issue drug licence to the latter. On August 6, 2016 Islam filed an FIR before the SP of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam against the duo. Saikia was then the drug inspector, Bongaigaon and Bhowmik was an employee at the drug inspector office. Advocates Pallab Kataki and NJ Das represented Bhowmik and Saikia respectively in the court.
