STF of Assam Police seizes 60,000 Yaba tablets; 3 arrested in Guwahati

The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police on Tuesday recovered and seized 60,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 15 crore in Guwahati and apprehended three drug peddlers, including a man from Manipur.

GUWAHATI: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police on Tuesday recovered and seized 60,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 15 crore in Guwahati and apprehended three drug peddlers, including a man from Manipur.

The operation was conducted following information that a drug deal was to be struck at a place in front of Rahman Hospital at Six Mile in the city. The STF team, under the supervision of Partha Sarathi Mahanta, DIG (STF), and led by Kalyan Kr Pathak, Additional Superintendent of Police, STF, swung into action and arrested three drug peddlers, including one from Manipur.

The arrested peddlers are –Habibur Rahman (49) of village Kwakta in Manipur; Alimuddin (46) of Mankachar; and Idrish Ali (38) of Dhing, Nagaon. They were apprehended from a hotel in front of Rahman Hospital.

The STF team recovered and seized 60,000 Yaba tablets from their possession. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at around Rs 15 crore.
