Guwahati: Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Special Task Force (STF) led by Kamrup Additional Superintendent of Police (STF) Kalyan Kumar Pathak seized 182 grams of heroin at Amingaon here today.
The STF team intercepted a vehicle. The operation resulted in the recovery of 13 soap boxes containing 182 grams of heroin.
The vehicle (AS-24B-2485) was seized, and two individuals, identified as Masoom Choudhury (23) and Kazi Sanowar Hussain (24), were apprehended. Choudhury, a resident of Silchar, and Hussain, hailing from Barpeta, were found to be involved in transporting the narcotics from Silchar to Barpeta.
In another successful operation, a team led by Inspector Kapil Pathak conducted a raid at Khanapara under Dispur Police Station jurisdiction and apprehended an individual. Seized items include 18 soap boxes containing heroin weighing 24.41 grams, two mobile phones, and some cash.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the apprehended individuals.
