Sulobh Mulyo Bebosayee Santha Staged protest Against CAA

GUWAHATI: Demanding the scrapping of the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act), the Sulobh Mulyo Bebosayee Santha staged a sit-in-demonstration at Latasil playground here on Sunday.

Besides the members of the Santha the others who also extended their support to the protest led by the Sadou Assam Sulobh Mulyo Bebosayee Santha (SASMBS) include Pranab Jyoti Chetia from Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti, Khilanjia Janagusthiya Gana Chetana Mahasabha, Pradip Gogoi, vice president of the ULFA and many others.

Present in the protest, AASU (All Assam Students’ Union) chief adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya said that every indigenous people, including the lawyers, workers associations, are coming in against the Act. “Delhi couldn’t understand the voice of the indigenous people in Assam. But Delhi and Dispur must understand our stand on the Act. One thing is clear that we’ll work and we’ll carry on our protest,” said Bhattacharya.

The SASMBS stated that a total of 38,238 shopkeepers are distributing rice at Rs 1 per kg to 2.51 crore consumers and they have come out to extend their support along with others in the protest against the CAA. They feel that implementing this Act can also hamper them in their employment.
