GUWAHATI: Binod Kumar Goswami, assistant teacher of Padum Kuwari Collegiate High School, Rangia was suspended by the Inspector of Schools, Kamrup on Saturday for alleged involvement in sexual exploitation/molestation of a student of the school.
It may be mentioned that an application was received from the Headmistress of the school and news was also published in a section of the electronic media in this regard.
A case was registered in this connection at the Rangia Police Station.
Meanwhile, a show-cause notice was also served to Goswami from the office of the Inspector of Schools regarding this matter on October 14, but no reply has been received from the teacher till date, informed an official communiqué.
Under the circumstances and pending initiation of departmental proceedings, the Inspector of Schools, Kamrup has placed the service of the said teacher under suspension as per the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rule, 1964 with immediate effect. During the period of suspension, Binod Kumar Goswami shall be entitled to draw subsistence allowance as per admissible rules and he cannot leave the headquarters without prior permission of the competent authority, the suspension order stated.
