Guwahati: In a series of coordinated operations, Guwahati police have cracked multiple theft cases in different parts of the city, leading to arrests and recovery of stolen items. In one such case, a team from Basistha Police Station apprehended Md Raja Ali (22), a resident of Hastinapur, from the Khanapara area. He was identified as the prime accused in a theft case. Acting on leads obtained during interrogation, the police recovered several stolen car parts from Junaki Path in Bongaon. The seized items included an engine piston chamber, a suspension rod, one pressure plate, and another unidentified iron item. Legal proceedings against the accused have been initiated. In a separate incident, a team from Noonmati Police Station recovered a stolen Swift Dzire (bearing registration number AS06AE0897) from Gaon Burha Path in Patharquary on July 4. The vehicle had been stolen during the night of July 2 from the same locality. Thanks to swift action by the investigating team, the car was traced and recovered within 48 hours. Legal formalities related to the case are underway. In another case of attempted burglary, a team from Panikhaiti Outpost under Pragjyotishpur Police Station caught Rahul Das of Ramesh Tiniali red-handed as he was trying to break into a grocery store. The accused had already broken the shop’s lock when he was nabbed by the patrolling team. A search led to the recovery of 11 packets of pan masala (Kamala Paran’s, Signature, Shikhar), 50 cigarette packets (including Gold Flake, Flake, Edition, Mint Flake, Mixpod, and Gold Flake Lite), 30 KitKat chocolates, and a small brass urn.
Rahul Das was taken into custody and legal action has been initiated.
