GUWAHATI: An angry mob set a truck ablaze in the Gorchuk area here on Friday after it mowed down a two-wheeler and other vehicles, killing at least two persons and injuring some four persons. Two amongst the injured persons are reportedly in a critical condition. The identity of the deceased persons is yet to be ascertained, police sources said.
As per eyewitnesses, the speeding truck was travelling in the wrong direction on the National Highway-37 when it hit the two-wheeler and other vehicles.
Irate local residents damaged the truck and then torched it. Police immediately rushed to the spot and fire tenders were pressed into operation. However, the driver of the truck managed to flee the spot and is still absconding.
