GUWAHATI: In a situation, where a statement made by Pradip Dutta Ray, a leader from Barak Valley is creating controversial situation, Axom Xahitya Xabha (AXX) President, Paramanada Rajbongshi and leader from Bangali organization Sukumar Biswas, addressed a joint press meet to express their disagreement with Dutta Ray’s statement.

Paramanada Rajbongshi said, “We reproach Pradip Dutta Ray’s statement. No one had ever questioned on the language policy of AXX. AXX never wanted linguistic fights, but Dutta Ray’s statement has left a space for possibility of a linguistic feud. Barak and Brahmaputra Valley is comprises of only one identity, which is that the people of Assam. Dutta Ray’s statement can never be the statement of neither the people of Barak Valley nor Bengali spoken or Assamese people. AXX has always been working towards creating harmony between the people of both these valleys. Now, it feels like someone spreading poison to break the harmony.”

Rajbongshi further added, “We’re equally worried on the issue on CAB. We opposed this bill earlier and we’ll stand with our earlier statement. No political Parties have ever given us moral lesson as to accept the CAB or not. AXX has never done anything which may cause destruction to Assamese life. We’re with our early statement, now to work in a more efficient matter we’re proceeding in a systematic way.”

Claiming that Pradip Dutta Ray’s statement is not the statement of whole Bengali community, Sukumar Biswash said, “We warn Dutta Ray to not pass such statement in future, else he’ll face resentment by Bengali organizations.” He further added that I’m against Pradip Dutta Ray as he is trying to fuel a linguistic fight, Assamese will always remain the state language of Assam and we reproach Dutta Ray for his statement.
